Our Mission
The StarWalking Across America Initiative is a nonprofit organization launched to bring high-tech astronomy directly into public classrooms at zero cost to schools.
Traditional astronomy programs happen at night, creating massive logistical hurdles for schools regarding transportation, late hours, and liability waivers. We do something different, we focus on our Sun.
We equip school districts with dedicated solar telescopes, automated trackers, and we host interactive daytime sessions where students can see filaments, prominences and solar flares erupting in real time.
We are launching our proof-of-concept pilot right here in South Carolina before scaling our program nationwide.
Phased Strategic Goals
Phase 1 (Immediate Regional Goal) To launch the pilot phase of the StarWalking Across America Initiative within South Carolina school districts, deploying turnkey solar observing kits (telescope and tracker) and delivering live interactive solar imaging sessions where students can see flares, filaments and prominences directly to local classrooms.
Phase 2 (Long-Term National Goal) To scale the program nationwide by establishing a year-round, open-access solar live stream archive and distributing raw deep-sky datasets to STEM programs across all 50 states, partnering with universities to build a nationwide network of student-driven astronomical research.
